Objectives
To keep Field Umpires safe
Responsibilities
(a) Before each season
Accreditations: Activate and upload your accreditations to EverProof as soon as possible and before you commence as a volunteer in a match role. If you’ve not uploaded your accreditations to EverProof before a match, you can’t be a volunteer in a match role. To understand your required accreditations, click here
Child safety: Be aware of, understand and follow the child safety policies and procedures. To access the child safety policies and procedures, click here
Code of conduct: Provide the child safe code of conduct signed by you to your team manager before round 1
(b) Before each match
Introduce yourself to the Field Umpire
Obtain the orange bib from the Team Manager
Escort the Field Umpire from the umpire room to the centre of the field
(c) During each match
Must be based outside the fence near the interchange gates
During the first quarter and third quarter breaks, stand with the Field Umpire and provide water
At the start of the half time break, escort the Field Umpire from the assembly point on the field to the umpire room
At the end of the half time break, escort the Field Umpire from the umpire room to the centre of the field
During play, act as interchange steward and ensure players enter the field through the designated area and exit the field through the designated area
(d) After each match
Escort the Field Umpire from the assembly point on the field to the umpire room
Remain with the Field Umpire until the player report form and match report form have been finalised

Team Manager: To be rostered on for matches, to obtain the orange umpire escort bib on match day
League by-laws
Must be at least 18 years old
Except the Umpire Escort and Team Manager, no person is to approach the Field Umpire during a match. The Umpire Escort and Team Manager may approach the Field Umpire during a match, but only for matters not related to the game being officiated
Except an injured player, if a player enters or exits the field other than through the interchange gates, the player must not return to the field for a period of 1 full quarter. The Umpire Escort must report the incident to the Team Manager and the Team Manager must inform the Timekeeper of the player’s name and number and time commences from the time the Timekeeper is informed
