Our vision
At South Melbourne Districts, Amateur Football’s success is promotion through the divisions for our men’s, women’s and youth teams. This is done through developing quality football programs for our members and community. Our success will be supported by an inclusive, diverse and welcoming culture that recognises its contributors and fosters talent to perform at its full potential.
South Melbourne District Senior Football Club is the foundation section of SMDSC. Senior Football until recent times has been an open age mens and reserve team and at times the club has fielded Under 19 teams. In 2017, SMD Senior Football fielded its first Womens football team. It was a great success and was expanded to a seniors and reserves in 2018. A proud club with a rich history, South Melbourne District Football Club currently fields amateur teams in Seniors and Reserves for Men and Womens, all competing in the VAFA competition.
The facilities at Clarke Shields Pavillion, while heavily utilised, are developing into a great place to train and play footy. A small gym is available for those needing a specific program for strength or injury rehab. The rooms and facilities were renovated in 2013 and boast excellent changing rooms, showers and social club amenities.
The club is proud of its diverse and talented list of players, originating from all over the globe and the country. The club has a number of great social nights throughout the year and being on the doorstep of the city is very convenient to get to and from.
