Facilities

We operate from the Clarke Shields Pavilion in Albert Park Reserve and use nearby ovals and other spaces within Albert Park Reserve and the City of Port Phillip through partnerships, which we provide to each sport and the community for use.

Clubrooms

The clubrooms are available to members to hire on a case-by-case basis for educational or meeting purposes, but not for parties. Please email secretary@smdsc.com.au to enquire.

Parking

Parks Victoria imposes parking restrictions and levies parking fees on all car parks and kerbside parking spaces within Albert Park Reserve - and Parks Victoria parking officers take a strong interest in administering those restrictions and ensuring all parking fees are paid.  For more info, click here.

South Melbourne Districts members and families wishing to park their car within Albert Park Reserve may choose from these options:

  1. Ticket parking

    Buy a ticket from one of the pay-and-display ticket machines within Albert Park Reserve and display the ticket prominently on the dashboard on each visit. Ticket parking fees are published on the parking machines and you can pay by card.

  2. Permit parking

Members are advised to buy a permit which exempts members from a number of parking restrictions while involved in an activity connected with South Melbourne District Sports Club and discounts the parking fees paid by members.  For more info, check the conditions on the application form.  To evidence membership of South Melbourne Districts, please attach the e-mail confirmation received when registering a player.

Australian Grand Prix

Each year, the Australian Grand Prix is held in Albert Park Reserve and this has a direct impact on the club and its facilities and operations, including scheduling of training sessions and staging of matches.

Access to Albert Park Reserve leading up to and after these dates will be restricted to enable staged setting up and dismantling of infrastructure. For more info, click here.

During this period, all club activities, including scheduling of training sessions and staging of matches, will be scheduled at other venues.  For details on these venues, check the relevant sports section web page and communications.
