Field Umpire
Objectives
To umpire matches in accordance with the game rules
Responsibilities
(a) Before each season
Accreditations: Activate and upload your accreditations to EverProof as soon as possible and before you commence as a volunteer in a match role. If you’ve not uploaded your accreditations to EverProof before a match, you can’t be a volunteer in a match role. To understand your required accreditations, click here
Child safety: Be aware of, understand and follow the child safety policies and procedures. To access the child safety policies and procedures, click here
Code of conduct: Provide the child safe code of conduct signed by you to your team manager before round 1
(b) Before each match
Introduce yourself to the Goal Umpire, Boundary Umpire and opposition’s Field Umpire
Obtain the player report form, match report form and 2 correct size balls in good condition (if a home match) from the Team Manager
Be at the ground at least 30 minutes before the official start of the match and be on the field correctly attired at least 5 minutes before the official start of the match
(c) During each match
Interpret and apply the game rules in accordance with the spirit of the game
Understand and apply modified rules based on the age group playing
Complete the player report form and match report form as required
(d) After each match
Best-and-fairest votes: From round 5 onwards, allocate best-and-fairest votes for players as follows and record on the match report form:

1st place / 3 votes
2nd place / 2 votes
3rd place / 1 voteMatch report form: Complete the match report form and submit the match report form online by 6:00 pm on match day
Accountabilities
Team Manager: To obtain the player report form, match report form and 2 correct size balls in good condition (if a home match) on match day
Umpire coordinator: To be rostered on for matches, to obtain the fluorescent yellow bib, to report incidents

If modified rules, each team must supply 1 Field Umpire each – 2 in total. If any other rules, the league must appoint 2 Field Umpires. In finals matches, the league must appoint 2 Field Umpires, 2 Goal Umpires and 2 Boundary Umpires
Must be at least 18 years old
If a Field Umpire is absent or unable to complete a match and another member of the umpire panel is not available, the teams may agree to appoint a substitute Field Umpire, who must umpire the match in accordance with the game rules, report incidents and award league best-and-fairest votes for the match. If the teams are unable to agree to appoint a substitute Field Umpire, the match is abandoned and the league must determine the allocation of premiership points. Under no circumstances must a Coach be appointed as a substitute Field Umpire
