Governance Update
COVID-19 Safety
With Round 1 almost here, I wanted to briefly update you on COVID-19 safety at South Melbourne Districts.
Our club’s COVID1-9 safety info is outlined here.
For players and officials, this means:
regularly using hand sanitizer
maintaining social distancing when not in-play on the field and avoiding tight huddles during breaks
bringing your own water bottles - clearly labelled (water won’t be brought out to the field, so please ensure adequate hydration is maintained during the breaks)
not giving high fives or handshakes and minimise other physical contact, including excessive bumping behind play
avoid removing mouthguards, except if necessary (if necessary, ensure no contact is made with another person)
not sharing personal items, such as footy jumpers, water bottles, helmets, food or towels
at the end of the match, maintaining social distancing, not shaking hands (offer 3 cheers to the umpires instead) and singing the club song as soon as possible after the match and off the field
For parents, this means:
regularly using hand sanitizer
scanning in using the QR codes at each oval
maintaining social distancing at all times and avoiding avoiding gatherings and mingling before and after the match
not going on the field at any time, including during quarter breaks and after a match (only players and officials are permitted on the field)
not accessing changerooms at any time (only players and officials are permitted in the change rooms)
Finally, if you - or a person you’ve been in contact with - are ill, please don’t attend the match and immediately notify your coach or team manager.
If you have any questions or concerns about COVID-19 safety in and around the club, please contact me. Thank you for your cooperation. I’m very much looking forward to a COVID-19 Safe Season.
