Junior Football
HELP NEEDED:
The Club has started to organise its annual raffle and Social Night…. We need parent volunteers to help in various roles – the more people involved, the easier the load and the greater the event will be!
This is a fantastic way for you to be involved with the club. We appreciate time can be limited and therefore difficult to commit to a longer term role. Here, you can have a huge impact for a couple of weeks and then step back.
Please email Scott Murphy at secretary.juniorfooty@smdsc.com.au to express your interest.

Congratulations to the U14 Premiers in 2012…..
Stomachs churned with anxiety and parents paced up and down, as a thriller played out at Le Page Park’s smallest ground where District’s undefeated record for the season was significantly challenged when Hampton snatched the lead for two quarters. In a resounding and thrilling last quarter, the lead see-sawed twice with only minutes to go. With true spirit, the Bloods dug deep and found what it takes, running out two goal winners. It was an exciting and fantastic game of footy to watch.
Congratulations to Coach Brendan Maloney for his years of devotion and hard work with the boys; to Assistant Coach, David O’Connell; to Team Manager, Carmel Benson; and to all the parents and Club supporters who came along to make it a great day. It was a fitting culmination to Season 2012.
For a full match report, see the August 28 eNews with Fixtures & Results….and Cheer Cheer the Red and the White with the boys as they sing the winning song with great gusto!

And to our U16s, congratulations on a great year of outstanding footy…..
In a terrific game of skilled football, South Melbourne District’s U16 team went down by only 5 points to Mordi-Brae. The weather was kind enough, although a strong breeze assisted from time-to-time.
Behind at the last change, Districts came on strongly and had the ball in their 50 metre zone for most of the quarter, peppering the goals with enough shots to win. But the Mordi-Brae defence proved to be too strong, getting touches to more shots than we wanted to count, and so the points, not goals, reflected on the scoreboard.
A great game and a great effort by all the players, Coach Kane Killip and Asst. Coach Tom Kelly and Team Manager, John Durie, and, of course, parents who have supported the team all year.
U11 Red line up as the National Anthem is played before their Grand Final on August 19, 2012.
A valiant and hard-fought match on a soggy and boggy Le Page Park saw the Bloods go down to Northvale. Although not bringing home the flag, the team is to be congratulated on a terrific effort for the season. Thanks and congratulations to Coach, Carlo Musco, Asst. Coach, Simon Matthews and Team Manager, Pat O'Mahoney for all their hard work during the season.
Many thanks also to all the parents, friends and Club members who came to support the boys on a very cold but, thankfully, dry Sunday morning.
Go Bloods!
Some spectacular action from the U16s Prelim Final vs Northvale on August 19, 2012, as they make their way to the Grand Final next Sunday!
And Club Mascot…“Sunny” Holdsworth!
